A Thousand Marbles
A man was given a gift by an older, wiser person—a jar full of 1,000 marbles. The man was told that each marble represented one week of his life. He was encouraged to remove one marble each week, starting from that moment, to keep track of how much time he had left.
As time went on, the man began to remove one marble each week. At first, he didn’t notice the marbles disappearing. But as the jar gradually emptied, he started to realize how precious each marble really was. Each marble, representing a week, grew more and more significant as he saw the jar become emptier.
One day, the man took out the last marble, and he understood the lesson he was being taught: life is limited, and time is a precious resource that should not be taken for granted. The marbles weren’t just a physical reminder of time passing—they symbolized opportunities, experiences, and moments that shouldn’t be wasted.

Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, once said,
“I believe that every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don’t intend to waste any of mine.”
The lesson of this story is that life is finite, and we often don’t realize just how much time we have left until it’s too late. It encourages us to make the most of our time by living intentionally, enjoying the present, and not postponing things that truly matter.
