Mission Statement

For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of being a writer—to share my thoughts, feelings, and dreams with others, to make my voice heard. As I’ve grown older, my understanding of the world has deepened, but life isn’t as perfect as I once imagined. Along the way, I’ve faced numerous challenges that have sometimes made me question whether my writing has a place in the world.

Over ten years ago, we welcomed our second granddaughter—a premature infant weighing less than 3 lbs. Her arrival was a reminder of life’s fragility and the challenges of stepping into the world. While we were all happy to meet her, we also understood that her parents would face many tough times in raising her. As expected, her development took a bit more time compared to others, and for a while, crying was her primary way of communicating.

Through her, I’ve gained a new perspective on life. I’ve come to realize that even in moments of disruption and imperfection; there is space for growth and transformation. Life doesn’t always unfold smoothly; it often brings cracks and breaks—but when we embrace these moments, we find new outlook and beauty in the process of change.

Spicy Tofu is her favorite dish—she loves the bold, spicy flavor and the soft, comforting texture of tofu. Just as this dish combines boldness and comfort, I hope this blog reflects the strength and warmth that life’s challenges bring. This is why I’ve chosen the name Spicy Tofu—to honor her and the way life itself is a mix of spice, softness, and transformation.

I’ve organized the articles into five categories that reflect the journey of my life and the lessons I’ve learned along the way:

people, friends, together

I hope my writing brings warmth and courage to the parts of your heart that feel darkness today. Together, we can become the light of the world, lifting each other up and uplifting society’s spirit.
